So far I am very happy with this anchor. The ad doesn't show it well, but there is a collar that twists to lock the flukes in the up position (storage) or in the down position (typical use). The rope isn't easily separated from the anchor, but it can be done if you are familiar with making loops like this in braided rope. It really isn't necessary to separate the rope, but I did so that I could fasten the rope to the bottom, then use zip ties to connect the rope to the top. I got this idea from another review and it really is simple genius. This way if the anchor gets stuck I can jerk it a few times to break the zip tie and the rope will pull the anchor in the opposite direction. I use this on slow rafting trips to anchor 4 tubes in the shade for a lunch break and it held us just fine. I would be comfortable using it to temporarily hold a small group of canoes or kayaks with no worries. All this for a very fair price.
